The synthesis of taxol has been successfully carried out by three laboratories in the United States through different routes. However, due to the complexity of synthesis steps and expensive cost, there is no industrial application value. It was found that the semi synthesis of 102 from Taxus leaves to acetylbacardin III (102dab) was found. As long as the chiral taxol side chain f was introduced into 102dab molecule, taxol could be obtained. So the side chain of taxol is mainly used as the intermediate in the synthesis and preparation of the raw materials.
